Stan and Ollie, fugitives from prison, find themselves pursued by a police officer armed with a shotgun. Their escape leads them to encounter two accomplices in a car, where they hurriedly swap their prison attire for street clothes, accidentally exchanging trousers in the process.

Stan and Ollie are about to attend a poker game when Ollie receives a telephone call telling them their absence is holding up the game. Ollie then tells their wives they have a business engagement at the Orpheum Theater and sneak off to their poker game.
A mad scientist captures the attention of law enforcement agencies with his plan to conduct a medical experiment using a deceased body. Professor's residence is visited by Stan and Ollie, who coincidentally seek sustenance. The professor offers the duo $500 to procure a cadaver from a nearby cemetery.
During a shore leave, two sailors opt to rent an automobile, with Laurel assuming the role of driver.
The duo, initially destitute vagrants, experience a significant shift in fortunes when Ollie inherits a substantial fortune from his deceased uncle. Utilizing his newfound wealth, Ollie purchases an opulent mansion and appoints Stan as his butler.
Ollie and his wife are enjoying a quiet Sunday at home until Stan shows up, eager to play some golf. After Stan breaks the chair, the blind, and nearly sets fire to their house, and Oliver breaks the Hardys' Victrola, Mrs. Hardy chases the boys out.
Submissive husband Stan has clandestinely saved money from his thrifty wife. Upon discovering Stan's savings, Ollie proposes they utilize the funds for leisure. However, before they can embark on their escapade, Stan's wife intercepts the wallet, replacing the cash with cigar coupons.
